Presentation Skills for Business and Academia

END: 6 pm

This workshop is intended for Bachelor and Master students who would like to expand their
presentation skills for academia and business. Participants have the possibility to acquaint
themselves with a variety of presentation techniques and to train these in the second part
of the seminar. The goal of the workshop is to allow participants to expand their
presentations skills, to develop an individual presentation style and to gain confidence as
public speakers.

Contents:
Important focal points of the training include:
• The importance of presentations in business and academia
• Understanding your audience
• Structuring presentations effectively and persuasively (the effective opening,
structuring an argument, ending strong)
• General presentation techniques (story-telling, suspense, contrast, humor...)
• Understanding the effectiveness of different presentation styles and developing an
own authentic style
• Managing Q&A sessions, handling feedback confidently and constructively
• Stage presence
• Voice and body language
• Dealing with presentation anxiety
• Visualization techniques

Lisa Heindl - the trainer

Lisa Heindl has been working as a trainer and advisor in the fields of personal and
professional development since 2011. In trainings and individual coaching sessions, she
supports students and professionals in the process of career orientation and in building
skills for academic and professional success.

Education and professional training:
• PhD at the University of Bremen
• Master of Science at the London School of Economics (LSE)
• Certification as systemic advisor and systemic therapist at the Norddeutsches Institut
für Kurzzeittherapie (NIK)
• Certified MBTI Trainer (AMT)
• Certification as ‘Career Expert’ (Karriereexpertenakademie, Hamburg)
• Long-term educational and professional stays in the USA, England, Spain and NZ
